I hope to tell you about exciting deals that I encounter, or find out about right here. For now, there is no special section for it - but hopefully there will be. There are plenty of other Australian websites that list all the special deals out there. I thought you might be interested in this Video Ezy Offer.
The Flemington store is moving, and for the month of October (or the month they are moving), they are offering all movies (new, old, ancient, box office etc) for $1.00. You can hire 5 movies per night. That is one of the cheapest deals I have encountered when it comes to DVD hiring.
Step into the Video Ezy store, and grab a coupon. It’s totally worth it!

The food I was in for a simple breakfast, and ordered toast with baked beans. My favourite. I liked it, but remember I am biased towards toast and baked beans. The beans could have been more warmer I thought. The coffee was not bad either, better than your average Star Bucks. I did see a few other customers, so breakfast at this place is nothing new. They have a range of options, traditional and unique. Certainly worth a try.
The service
Nothing spectacular. We received an incorrect bill, but partly because we didn’t know our table number (even though we sat very close to the front register).
Rating - 6.5 (good breaky, average service) I love a good breakfast. I will go here again, but perhaps for other meals of the day. Have you tried this place for lunch or dinner? Let us know.
This is old news for most, but new to me. I bought an item off eBay recently and received it in proper condition - as described. So I logged on to submit my feedback today only to be told that buyers cannot receive negative feedback, but buyers can dish out such feedback to sellers. It seems this has been in effect for a few months according to some reports I have read on the net (earliest was Feb 2008).
Itsan awesome situation for buyers because often buyers would feel threatened by leaving bad feedback to sellers, given often retialation negative feedback is common (from sellers).
But it seems this can definitely be misused by buyers. Buyers can be real harsh on giving feedback, and start being really picky about minor details. When buyers do not pay, they can still leave negative feedback to tarnish a seller’s reputation. If this happens, the seller has to go through the eBay process to clear their name. I have done this before, and it takes time and for those that have feedback in the hundreds - it can really affect their percentage rating in the meantime.
One can appreciate where eBay is going with this sort of feedback system, but a feedback system is not true when one can only receive positive feedback (i.e.: buyers). If I was a power seller, I would be spewing. eBay have such market share of the online retail industry, its pretty difficult to go against and win. So most sellers would just suck it up, and make sure they do things as perfect as possible. So you can expect better customer service from eBay sellers now, I guess. For buyers out there, it gives you added security of exhibiting extra scrutiny on your eBay seller, and be real nitty gritty about things.
It certainly would have made me think twice about selling on eBay. Although it will be good to use PayPal for power sellers, the small to medium sellers will be slugged with fees which eat into their profits. Furthermore, even some of the power sellers would have simply added extra fees to cover for the extra costs.
All this who ha about PayPal being the “safest option” is absolute bullwinkle. Having said all this, eBay still is quite seedy about “enforcing” or “encouraging” PayPal use. When you check out, you see PayPal all over the web page, and users are discouraged (i.e.: your listing is taken down) from recommending a pay option. Surely, if I am the seller then I can recommend which option I would prefer to get my money for sales. What does eBay have to gain? Fees of course. They are basically saying that the seller cannot recommend a payment type, but they can “recommend it” passively by putting massive PayPal logos all over the place. Hardly seems fare.
The ACCC has released a draft, which says “The evidence available does not support the view that PayPal is the most secure method of payment or offers the best service for all transactions”.
I liked the old eBay, the non-tyrant user based auction site. Good on ya ACCC!
I had a day off today (rarity these days), so I ventured into downtown. I may make a trip to Central America later in the year so I am checking out ticket prices. It seems to cost around $3000 mark for a return economy fare, and up to $11000 for a first class fare (for those filty rich despicable people - lol!). Unfortunately, I will be traveling in the former class.
All of the flights are ex-LA, so I walked into Flight Centre on Elizabeth Street to ask them if they had any idea about V-Australia’s prices. According to V-Australia’s site, direct flights to LA start mid December, although they seem to change the date from time to time. When I checked the site - which was a couple of weeks ago, they had no indication of the price. I checked after going to Flight Centre and it seems during low season it will cost around $2009 (conditions apply of course).
The funny thing was, the Flight Centre lady had no idea what V Australia was. I told them it was Virgin’s initiative to fly to LA from Australia. Still not ringing any bells. I was thinking if she has driven in any major freeway in Melbourne, or watched TV, or heard the radio in the last few months. Only 1 of the staff members had heard of V-Australia. I almost burst out laughing when I exited the store.
Have you heard of V-Australia? Is it fair for me to expect them to know what it is? I thought it was.
